I'm now in NYC. Post Rwanda. Post Haiti. For those of you who knew my blog 5 years ago, I wrote about Rwanda. At that time, via the generous support of the Durant Fellowship awarded by Massachusetts General Hospital, I worked as a nurse in Rwanda from 2006-2007 with Partners In Health as well as with the Clinton HIV/AIDS Initiative in two rural health districts to launch primary care services to the community. Now I'm doing primary care in an underserved area in NYC.

This is one of my favorite little girls! Again, she came in last week and I honestly was afraid she was going to die, much like another child who passed away that I tried to get better. She looked about in the same shape. I started out putting an NG tube in her for feeds but the tube wasn't working properly so I pulled it back out. Low and behold over the next few days she started drinking more, without the tube, and this week she is looking fantastic. She came up and gave me a huge hug the other day - twice. It made my day.
